Dedication and Grand Opening of the
Abbey of St. Benedict's New Retreat Houses

In the year 2000 the Companions of St. Luke were invited to the Episcopal Diocese of Iowa by The Right Reverend Christopher Epting. At the Annual Convention that year, Abbot Michael John promised those in attendance that he would build for them a monastery that would service not only the Diocese but also surrounding states. Eight years later, Phase One of Three is nearing completion. On August 16 at 10:00 a.m., we will celebrate the grand opening and blessing of three retreat houses.

The three buildings have 10 bedrooms, sleeping 12, with private bathrooms and individually con-trolled environments. The buildings come complete with a library, common areas and conference center. Every attempt has been made to minimize our eco-footprint, and use the latest technology to reduce energy consumption.

Our vision is more about meeting your need than ours. The reality is that more and more people are searching for a place of safe-harbor, a place a bit distant from the struggle and stress of every day life. We are pleased that we can offer our new facility as a place of rest, reflection and spiritual renewal. ( read more )
